because i love you?!?!

It is learnt in communications that communication has powerful effects in a certain cultural perspective. Indeed it is so true! it has a different yet similar intensity of powerful effect when this advertisement is shown in local television and Singapore movie theatres. comments so far from the forums and my friends so far are adverse.

In defining rhetoric, persuasive communication is applied to achieve these objectives:

1) Logos = appealing to reason(logical)
2) Pathos = appealing to emotions
3) Ethos = persuasive appeal and credibility of source

may i ask my beloved audience, based on these criterias, is this advertisement persuasive?

personally, i feel so persuaded to not ever try the allswell drink. it is certainly appealing to my funny bone, and its definitely not logical! what has "i love you" got to do with drinking an allswell drink???

haha... personally i didnt catch the Allswell commercial on TV, but i have heard it over the dinner table. guess this is the influence of media. do something catchy ( even when it doesnt make sense!!! ) and pple will talk abt it, laugh at it, and most imptly remember it.

tho this ad may not convince many that AllsWell is a really gd drink, but i believe perhaps becos of the raised awareness some pple may still decide to "try" the drink whereby without this ad they may otherwise never thought of doing. previously when i scan thru the 7-11 fridge the AllsWell drink had never even came into my sight! but now, i would see it and recall the Ad... haha awareness raised.

i think sometimes some things are plain straightforward when we catch something that just "doesnt make sense". but i feel that we should be very careful cos media has deep influence on us. some subtle messages can always seep into our brains just like how some ads can linger in our minds. apart from the Media board censor, we need to set some filters on our own too :)

haha... honestly right, I'm so not convinced by this ad because I didn't like the acting. Felt that the actors they got for this ad wasn't good in bringing out the message. LOL. That is my personal comment lah.

And as for the content of the message, I still don't see the link between the ad and encouraging viewers to drink it.

Perhaps I'm still bothered by the poor acting skills :P

Moses Moses Moses. The advertisement gives you the funny bone?.I agree to a certian extent that it is a little "cheesy" if you were to call it.However, excuse my view,i think that this advertisement was really romantic. She didnt want him to drink a sweeter drink for health reasons i would assume and that is care which equates to love.Nevertheless, looking at a persuasive point of view,i don't see the message at all.

you know honestly, i share the same sentiments as moses. i do not see the link between her concern for him and the promotion of allswell drink.

to me, she's seems more genuinely trying to promote the drink rather than showing concern to the guy.

or maybe it's just down to plain bad acting skills that does not bring across the message in this advertisement..

From another perspective, i feel that the advertisement is trying to bring out the point that we all want the best for our loved ones. So i don't think this advertisement is silly which a lot of people felt.

I feel this advertisement is one of those lousy ones that put Singaporeans to shame. There is no link in the plot and no use of celebrities or pretty face. It is neither taking central or peripheral method of persuasion. There is no speaker credibility, no emotions evoked and no logic involved. Quite a bad piece of advertisement in my opinion.

i have to admit that the commercial holds a very weak persuasive message there. the script is kinda lame plus i think the actors aren't professional enough!

but you know what.. the PLUM DRINK BY ALLSWELL IS REALLLLLLY NICE :P one of my all time favourite

WHAT?!

i dont understand this commercial. i think its one of the worst commercials ive ever seen. but if the idea was to catch peoples attention, i think it saw did. in fact i think that people will probably remember this advertisement for a long long time.

and the only reason why they will remember this is because...

I LOVE YOU!

I think that the fact that everybody is discussing about how "lousy" this TVC is shows that it has succeeded in creating awarenesss in its product.

As most people often say, any publicity is good publicity. What more, I'm pretty sure that the budget for this TVC is kept to a bare minimal. So it can be regarded as a success story of sorts.
